PRUE SAILER

The underlying inspiration and the prevailing theme in Prue Sailer’s art practice is centred on the inherent beauty in natural forms, and profound respect and sensitivity for the relationship between all living things. Prue uses traditional drawing and painting mediums, which have proven longevity and versatility. She details the intricacies of texture and vibrancy of colour found in nature, while investigating themes centred on current scientific, environmental and conservational concerns.

As our knowledge and understanding of the natural world grows through scientific research, so do opportunities to communicate this knowledge through art.  As a natural history artist, Prue is skilled in conveying scientific concepts through her art, which enables the viewing public to reflect on the diversity and complexity of the world’s flora and fauna.

Prue Sailer has exhibited professionally for the past 13 years, in NSW regional and commercial galleries. She was awarded a PhD in Natural History Illustration in 2013 and currently teaches into the Natural History Illustration undergraduate program at the University of Newcastle.
