Pamela FingerPamela has a passion for Australia's native plants and zest to study, understand and grow them. She is an active member of the Australian Native Plants Society including President in 2001/02, and is actively involved in the Field Naturalist Association of Canberra. After studying for a commerce degree for five years part time as well as working within technical areas of the public service Pamela decided she needed a creative outlet. When she decided to learn to draw and paint, she also wanted to use the opportunity to learn more about Australia’s native plants. Helen Fitzgerald’s classes “Learning about Australia’s native flora through painting and drawing” suited her requirements well and she attended her class in January 1999. This gave her the desire to learn more about the technical aspects of botanical watercolour. So Pamela then attended three semesters at the ANU Art School with Robyn Errey (nee Hill). She has also undertaken weekend workshops with Susanna Blaxhall and Helen Hewson. Pamela's previous experiences with the creative arts came from doing sculpture at school and then at college for one year. Her most continuing pursuit though has been photography, usually of nature and specialising in close-ups of native plants and insects. In 2002 in only Pamela's second exhibition, She won the WABA highly commended award in the botanical painting section for a watercolur of Eucalyptus Leucoxolyn. Contact
