Frances McMahonBorn in 1965, award-winning artist Frances McMahon has had a passion for painting Australia's beautiful native birds since the age of five.Developed over many years, her self-taught technique consists of painting many layers of translucent watercolour, using a minute brush with very few hairs. Her exquisitely detailed paintings may take over 130 hours to complete, with some details so fine that they may only be seen with a magnifying glass. Only the finest, archival materials are used, including 1,620 gsm conservation board for the ground, and artist's quality watercolours rated ASTM I or II only. To ensure longevitiy of each original, framing is also finished to the highest standards, with conservation matting, and "Tru-Vue" glass, which cuts out 97% of damaging ultra violet rays. This ensures lasting enjoyment for many generations. Her art has been featured in Australian Artist magazine, reproduced onto greeting cards, and has won many awards; including the Wildlike Art Award at the WABA 6th Annual Exhibition 2005. She was a finalist in the inaugural Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize 2003, and her originals hang in private collections in Minnesota and New York. Open editon and digital prints are also avaibale. Enquiries welcome. Please contact birdart1@yahoo.com.au for further details. Contact
