WABA members are invited to come on a field trip to the Queanbeyan Nature Reserve.
A botanist from the New South Wales Office of Environment and Heritage will take us on a guided tour of the Reserve to help WABA members find out more about the beautiful local, grassy ecosystem wildflowers. Rainer Rehwinkel, and possibly John Briggs, will take members for a short walk around the site and point out the species. Rainer Rehwinkel is the author of the book Grassland Flora: a field guide for the Southern Tablelands. Not all species will be in flower but Rainer will point out the species in the book that occur there, and when they are likely to be in flower. If anyone has a copy you might like to bring it along. Then we are welcome to set up and draw and view to our hearts’ content. We are not, of course, allowed to pick and remove any of the species. Rainer will give us all the information we need about the conservation work undertaken at such sites.
Date: Friday 18 October
Meet on site (see website for location) - more details to come.
