Lower Cotter Restoration Celebration: Sunday May 5

Bullock Paddock Rd, Lower Cotter: May 5, 9.30am- 3pm

The once bushfire-ravaged Lower Cotter Catchment is again teeming with life thanks to the efforts of thousands of volunteers and a partnership between Greening Australia and the ACT Government. The achievements in the Cotter area are a powerful symbol of the community’s recovery from that devastation. A ceremonial tree and community planting event will mark the completion of the major phase of the Lower Cotter Catchment restoration and provide the opportunity to thank all those who have assisted in the restoration effort. Musical and artistic performances, guided hikes, children’s activities and tours of recovery sites will be held throughout the day. Directions: Bullock’s Paddock Rd is a left turn off Brindabella Rd, 5km south-west of Uriarra Crossing. Follow directional signage from the Cotter or Uriarra. Free Buses (bookings essential) depart: 8:30am - City-West Bus Terminal (Marcus Clarke St, Canberra City) 9:00am – Stromlo Forest Park Bookings essential.
